The Catholic Bishop of Gboko, Most. Rev. William Amove Avenya suspended Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia from clerical duty because he was found wanting in participating in partisan politics.

Today, May 28, 2022, the ruling party in Nigeria, All Progressives Congress(APC) had her gubernatorial election primaries, choosing whom to represent the party during the 2023 as the governorship candidate for Benue State and Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia emerged as the winner. This means that Fr. Hyacinth will represent the Party as the gubernatorial candidate come 2023 governorship elections in Benue State.

In Fr. Hyacinth's speech, He said, "no one should speak ill of the Church Authority for suspending me. I knew it would be so before I decided to buy the form. I love the Priesthood and that is my main constituency. I had to answer this call for the salvation of my State. When I am done with this mission, i will go back to my primary constituency. I thank my Bishop for doing the right thing in sending me this letter. He is defending the Church. The Church cannot be involved in politics."

Catholic Gists Int'l wish him well and pray he stay true to him mission now and after. Amen.
